Detail information about job Research Associate (Biostatistics). Terms and conditions vacancy

Campus: South Kensington

A talented and motivated scientist in advanced computing or statistical modelling is required to support the PhenoMeNal project, an EU-funded activity to develop e-infrastructures for human metabolomic and related genomic data. The project is building an integrated and sustainable framework for the processing and analysis of medical metabolomics data. PhenoMeNal is generating a cloud based architecture which can support large scale molecular phenotyping activities such as that provided by the MRC-NIHR National Phenome Centre (NPC).  The NPC is a large-scale facility, based at Imperial College, for metabolic phenotyping of humans to discover biomarkers of disease and enhance understanding of the interactions between genes, lifestyle and other environmental factors.

The Research Associate (Biostatistics) post will involve development and adaptation of computational and statistical algorithms for metabolomics. In particular, the post holder will implement new algorithms, migrate and test an existing Bayesian NMR modelling tool to work with new types of experimental data.

Applicants should hold a PhD degree or equivalent in bioinformatics, biostatistics, chemometrics, computer science or similar field. Knowledge of multivariate and Bayesian statistics is essential, as is the ability to learn new methods and techniques quickly.

This full time position is offered for a fixed-term until 31 August 2018 in the first instance.

For further information please contact: Professor Robert Glen ([email protected]), Dr Tim Ebbels ([email protected]), or Dr Jake Pearce ([email protected]).

Closing date: 6 September 2017
