The role of Student Support and Systems Co-ordinator has been newly created to provide an important contribution to the PDO’s operational and developmental work. The post will work across the entire department and will be actively involved with academic schools in addition to external partners.

The post holder will be an able communicator who can work effectively with a range of HE and pre-HE students to provide opportunities for engagement and support. Within this role, you will also be required to develop and support training for the University’s ambassador scheme in addition to developing innovative ways of encouraging student participation in extra-curricula life. Of equal importance will be the ability to create and implement new systems to monitor student engagement, including solutions for students who are registered on the University’s formal pre-HE programmes.

To be effective within the post the holder must be creative, resourceful and results driven in equal measure.

As Student Support and Systems Co-ordinator you will:
  • Work closely with all PDO unit managers and programme leads to ensure that student engagement is maximised and that support to currently participating students is effective.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of student success training programmes.
  • Work closely with the curriculum teams to ensure that student support is in place for students on the University’s formal pre-HE programmes whilst also providing mentoring for University student ambassadors who are engaged in the provision of those programmes.
  • Be able to ensure that effective administrative and data collection systems are in place to support the wide range of student engagement, both pre-HE and HE and informal and formal, across the department.
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • BA Honours degree or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable experience of innovation and creativity, and proven impact, in an events or curriculum programme.
  • Ability to effectively deliver a range of student/staff development, teaching and training often within a challenging environment.
  • Experience of working with people, especially those from under-representative social groups from low-income backgrounds.
  • Excellent IT skills to include Word, Excel, Power Point, share point and a range of databases.
  • Willingness and interest in actively building upon student diversity in the University.

Partnership Development Office

The Partnership Development Office is responsible for supporting the implementation of the University’s widening participation strategy and for developing partnerships in the region, with a particular focus on sub-regional partnerships, in support of this strategy. The Partnership Development Office is part of the EMS comprising the Recruitment and Admissions Office, the Publishing Office and the Scholarships and Foreign Loans Office.
