Part Time : 21.9 hours per week (60% FTE)

The Department of Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment is a world-leading centre for geography, business, mathematics, science and humanities education. A core strength of the Department is in the study, support and improvement of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment through multidisciplinary programmes. The Department hosts top-rated initial teacher education programmes, incorporating Secondary PGCE and Teach First, innovative Masters programmes and a wide range of continuing professional development courses. The Department has an international reputation for research, leading an extensive range of development projects, special interest groups and doctoral studies.

As a Senior Teaching Fellow you will play a fundamental role in the shaping of Design and Technology teacher education at UCL IOE. You will contribute to the design, development and teaching of courses and programmes in teacher education. In the first instance teaching will cover the Teach First Post Graduate diploma in Education (PGDE) Design and Technology. You will work with school based mentors, external stakeholders and other partners to support the development of student teachers and their school based mentors through school visits, lesson observations, progress meetings, progress tracking and developmental conversations.

You will have proven experience of teaching within secondary schools and experience of mentoring student-teachers, NQTs and/or other education professionals and, ideally, already have experience within ITE. Awareness of current developments in the field of initial teacher education such as School Direct, the new national curriculum and other policy documents is an advantage.
