The Department of Biology at the University of York has a strong track record in Microbiology research and teaching, with strengths in Industrial biotechnology, molecular microbiology and a thriving interdisciplinary community interested in antimicrobial resistance. We are committed to further strengthening our expertise in this important and exciting discipline. We are therefore currently seeking to appoint two independent positions in the Department of Biology this Lectureship and an additional Chair. We are seeking an outstanding individual whose research interests at the cell, molecular, organismal or population level, will complement and deepen existing strengths and expertise both within the Department of Biology and across the University. You will be developing, an international reputation in a branch of microbiology with excellent publications and a competitive research plan.
Key Requirements: (relative to the level of post applied for – see candidate briefs for details)
- PhD in Microbiology or relevant science discipline
- Proven ability to contribute to high quality research which is publicly evidenced
- Knowledge of a range of research techniques and methodologies
- Experience of and commitment to teaching and learning
- Ability to develop research objectives, projects and proposals
You will also be expected to participate in research supervision, management and administration as appropriate and should be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the promotion of teaching and learning.
Salary will be commensurate with experience: £38,832 to £47,722
