Detail information about job Research Associate in Photodiodes. Terms and conditions vacancy

Contract Type: Fixed term for 12 months

We have an exciting opportunity in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering for someone looking to use their skills in semiconductor photodiodes/avalanche photodiodes and electronic circuits to make an impact on optical sensing and imaging applications.

You will join the Advanced Detector Centre in our large and diverse academic department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. We are well known internationally for our research, and are one of the largest research groups in photodiodes/avalanche photodiodes in the UK.

You will use your skills in both electronic circuits for photodiodes to provide essential support to the Advanced Detector Centre, by integrating photodiodes with subsequent electronics for bespoke instrumentations. This role offers you the opportunity to work on a range of projects focusing on different applications.

Educated to PhD level, you will have proven track record in designing and constructing electronic circuits for use with photodiodes. You will also have experience of design, modelling, and characterisation of a wide range of photodiode structures (ranging from standard photodiode, through avalanche photodiodes, to single photon avalanche diodes). Experience in creating software to control experimental setups using LabVIEW is also essential. As you will be responsible for integrating photodiodes with subsequent electronics for different applications, an ability to understand broad research concepts outside immediate area of expertise would be an advantage.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching, and student experience.
