We are seeking a full-time Research Associate to join the laboratory of Dr Franziska Denk at King’s College London from mid-October 2017. The laboratory aims to explore the potential link between epigenetic mechanisms and the development of chronic pain. Does epigenetics make certain individuals more vulnerable to pain or prolong their pain? For this purpose, we use transgenic models and high-throughput molecular analyses, such as RNA-seq and ChIP-seq, on sorted cell populations.
The successful applicant will work on a project which involves the study of enhancer function in both sensory neurons and microglia in the context of neuropathic pain. To be considered for this position, you need to have a PhD in Neuroscience or an equivalent subject or have submitted your thesis. Some in vivo experience, ideally with transgenic colonies, is essential. Practical knowledge of molecular biology skills (e.g. RNA extraction, chromatin immunoprecipitation) is also desirable.
You will be joining a large and multidisciplinary research community at the Wolfson Centre for Age-Related Diseases, where your research will benefit from the input of many supportive colleagues. Team work and good organizational skills will be essential.
The selection process will include a brief presentation, competency based questions in a panel interview and a practical assessment. Interviews are scheduled the week commencing 9 October 2017.
Interviews are scheduled to be held the week commencing: 9th October 2017.
