The salary will be paid at Grade 5, £28,098 per annum, plus £2,923 per annum London Allowance.
This post will be Fixed Term for 12 months
Applications are invited from highly motivated candidates for a position of Research Assistant on an exciting and innovative school based cohort study of mental health among adolescents (REACH: Resilience, Ethnicity and Adolescent Mental Health). The successful candidate will join an active research group in Society and Mental Health, based in the Health Services and Population Research Department.
REACH is a major new study funded by the European Union that is designed to investigate risk and resilience in the development of mental health problems in 11-16 year olds in South London, with a particular focus on variations by ethnic group.
The post-holder will contribute to the successful delivery of the programme and the post will comprise: 1) the generation of data, including engaging and working with schools, adolescents, parents, and other stakeholders, and recruitment and collection of data from adolescents, teachers, and parents, and 2) analysis and dissemination of findings. There will be opportunities for training and career development.
The successful candidate will have a degree in a relevant subject, knowledge of research methods, experience of data collection and working in a mental health field and with young people, ability to prepare written reports to a high standard, an excellent ability to engage with diverse public and stakeholder groups, and strong organisational skills.
The selection process will include a panel interview.
