We are seeking to appoint a Research Associate to be an active member of a busy and productive research team working on the pathways involved in the transmission and modulation of pain. The post will involve the study of neuronal and pharmacological systems within integrated systems with an emphasis on in vivo techniques. The role holder will be expected to produce independent, original contributions to the subject area and to interact with collaborators within the Wellcome Trust Pain Consortium and others both in the UK and abroad.

This post is funded until 31 December 2018 in the first instance and is available from October 2017.

Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant subject area and demonstrable comprehensive knowledge in the subject area of pain and pain control. The candidate joining the laboratory will have proven knowledge of in vivo research techniques and methodologies.

It is essential that the post holder has a home office licence and extensive knowledge of surgical techniques.

The use of spike software, knowledge of online and off line analysis, in vivo electrophysiology and behavioural technique are all desirable.
