Detail information about job GW4 Project Officer. Terms and conditions vacancy

This part-time (0.5 FTE) contract is available immediately on a fixed term basis until 8 May 2018.

The University of Exeter is a Russell Group university that combines world-class research with very high levels of student satisfaction. Exeter has over 21,000 students from more than 130 different countries and is in the top 1% of universities in the world with 98% of its research rated as being of international quality. Our research focuses on some of the most fundamental issues facing humankind today.

The University of Exeter has grown its research and knowledge transfer activity significantly over the last 5 years. Furthermore, the University has made a step change in its research earnings performance, research quality, research impact, numbers of research students and knowledge transfer.  As part of our commitment to address key global challenges the GW4 Alliance brings together the South West and Wales’ four leading, research-intensive universities: the Universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter.

Building on existing collaborations, the Universities work together across all academic activity, opening up more opportunities to collaborate in common areas of shared facilities, learning, training, development and other resources. The work of GW4 is encompassed into four workstreams, each led by a DVC from a GW4 institution. Each workstream has a strategy and panel constituted of appropriate staff from across GW4; the work streams focus on communications, infrastructure, building capacity and building communities.

The Building Communities Workstream, led by Professor Nick Talbot, aims to enable new, high-quality GW4 research communities to self-assemble or for existing high quality collaborations to enhance their scope. Its mechanisms for doing this are two funding schemes.

The GW4 Project Officer will assist the GW4 Project Manager in particular with the management of the Initiator and Accelerator funding calls and awards (through the Building Communities workstream), the GW4 Master Budget and Board meetings, working with the other GW4 Programme Managers, the GW4 Director and Co-ordinator as appropriate as well as college staff and academics.

The post-holder will provide project development and management support to the Exeter GW4 Project Manager, to teams of academic and support staff and GW4 Programme Managers involved in the development and delivery of GW4 Alliance activities.
