About us

Education Infrastructure Service (EIS) as a part of the Ministry manages one of the largest property portfolios in New Zealand, composed of over 2,100 primary and secondary State schools and over 8,000 hectares of land with a carrying value of $17.2 billion. EIS is also responsible for managing school payroll, school transport and for the delivery of information communication technology in schools. EIS undertakes around 3,000 projects per annum; a combination of Ministry and School led projects costing at least $800m per annum.

The Acquisitions and Designations (A&D) team deliver the Ministry's land requirements for future school projects across New Zealand. They also assist in the relocation, the additional land requirements of existing schools and provide the focal point for Resource Management Act matters. The delivery of the land acquisition programme is directly related to the population growth of New Zealand and capital expenditure is projected to be in excess of $500m over the next five years.

About the role

The A&D Project Coordinator role is responsible for providing day-to-day operational and administrative support to the A&D team.

Your Key Priorities will include the following:

  • Provide support to the A&D team to assist in the seamless delivery of the programme from project inception to handover
  • Periodic reporting against key programme information
  • Ensuring that all appropriate processes, procedures, standards and guidelines are adhered to and adapted as necessary
  • Reviewing and coordinating project/ programme documentation (procurement plans, evaluation plans and recommendations) for approval and, ensuring all relevant fi nal versions of documents are collected and stored appropriately
  • Providing administrative support for team meetings, minute taking, action points and coordination of responses to media/ ministerial enquiries

About you

You will have proven experience providing support to busy projects and ideally property teams and strong Microsoft Office skills with the ability to manipulate data in Excel spreadsheets. A 'can do' attitude is important and experience in the public sector and/or the property/ land development industry would be advantageous.
