This is an iconic NZ business located in Mount Maunganui with another site in the South Island and affiliations overseas. Producing a key ingredient to the food and pharmaceutical industry, they are the major player in their market with impressive plans for the future. This position reports to the Site Operations Manager. Working as part of the Site Management Team and alongside our manufacturing teams you will manage multiple Capex projects and with a real hands-on approach drive results through process improvement across the site.

Key deliverables of this role include:

  • Further development of systems and processes in a robust, systematic and scalable manner to achieve operational efficiency, minimize plant downtime and maximize output
  • Managing projects from developing objectives and specifications to determining responsibilities and project scheduling all the way to completion and review
  • Managing project finances from initial analysis and Capex request through to controlling project cost, reporting and review
  • Hands-on testing, observing processes and product, consulting with manufacturing team and collecting of relevant plant information
  • Cooperation with manufacturing staff to capture and retain valuable in-house knowledge for the long-term benefit of the organisation
  • Providing manufacturing decision making information including calculation of production, labour, material cost and future requirements

To be successful in this role you require…

  • Qualifications in Science/Engineering
  • Several years' experience with process improvement, continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing
  • Several years' manufacturing experience, ideally in food, chemical or pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong problem solving and analytical ability
  • Mathematical/Engineering/Design skills to produce designs and calculations
  • Ability to plan financial, material and personnel resources
  • Ideally working understanding of PLCs
  • To be a natural team player and effectively work with staff at all levels of the organisation
  • Great ability to communicate relevant information effectively
  • Strong computer skills with MS Word/Excel/Project/Access and CAD
  • Passion for driving positive change throughout the site
