We have a product range of hydro power turbines that we manufacture for Vortex Hydro. About the role

The business has been undergoing development by Vortex Group and has recently acquired 3 new CNC machine tools to expand capacity. With two years of internal product manufacturing scheduled, we are now looking for a manager to lead an improvement program which will lead to business growth and development for the team.  The key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Work with the Director and Shareholders in the development, review and implementation of the company Strategic Plan and Company Vision.
  • Develop and document annual plans as defined by the group.
  • Provide strong direction and leadership to the entire team.
  • Recognize that people are the key to the business success, and therefore place a high priority on the application of sound human resource management principles.
  • Oversee the financial management of the division, ensuring strong cashflow and appropriate financial instruments are in place.
  • Take a lead in the sales and marketing focus of the company by being responsible for the sales and marketing activities to gain new business.
  • Understand the risks associated with the business and manage those risks appropriately.
  • Drive an absolute quality focus within the business.
  • Ensure the company maintains a close working relationship with key suppliers.
  • Develop and implement appropriate information technology systems to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the company

What you'll need to succeed in this role

Ideally you will have a sound background of machining and fitting in a heavy industrial environment, and be competent in the operation of large lathes, milling machines, borers, and planers.

You will be comfortable developing innovative design solutions in conjunction with the client.

You will have very good communication skills, able to work well with people on the workshop floor, and clients from industrial sites.

You will have drive and passion for the engineering industry, and be looking for a challenging and rewarding role.
