Full Job Description
Our Hamilton based client is a well-established medium sized electrical and automation design and installation company who work in the following sectors: Food & Beverage, Dairy, Industrial, Water, Pharmaceutical, and Mechanical.
  
They need an Electrical and Automation Engineer, who is also a Registered Industrial Electrician so likely someone with an NZCE, an Industrial Electrician who has gone onto do a diploma in Electrical Engineering.

The role would involve hands on site visits and Industrial Electrical work, project estimation, design, and project management. About 30% of the role would be programming for PLC's for example water pump stations, or safety systems, so the person would need to at least understand and program with Ladder Logic and be able to get into a PLC, find out how it works, and modify code.
  
Some of the sites they service have re-automation work, so an example of this work may be: pull apart a machine, find out how it works, document it, put it back together so plant can continue to run until upgrade, then quote re-automation work, create a BOM for the manufacturing site, and then engineer and project manage re-automation projects. This role could suit someone who can start with strong Industrial Electrical experience and wants to grow into this more Electrical Engineering role gradually over time.

This role would involve:

• Site visits to see what existing electrical, automation, instrumentation, and mechanical systems are in place
• Creating Scopes of Work
• Design and BOM for Electrical, Automation, and Instrumentation
• Automation programming and interfacing e.g. Siemens, Allen Bradley, Pilz, Sick
• Project Managing the installation and commissioning of these systems on site
• AutoCAD Drafting for automation and electrical cabinet design
• Excel Spreadsheet manipulation and ability to use formula’s and lookup tables
• Creation of wiring schematics and schedules.

You will need at least 5 years of relevant experience and have the following attributes:

• Electrical engineering diploma, degree, or similar qualification
• EWRB Registered Electrician
• Proven experience in detailed design for industrial electrical and process control engineering
• Automation Programming experience
• Strong Electrical Layout Design Experience
• Electrical or Electrical Design Consultancy experience within a relevant sector: i.e. Food, Dairy, Water, Pharmaceutical, Mechanical, or FMCG environments
• Experience using Drafting software - AutoCAD
• Have a valid work visa and NZ work experience
• Ability to work with mechanical designers, clients, and contractors
• Need to be up to play with the relevant electrical and mechanical standards

Salary is negotiable depending on skill and experience and the package also includes a bonus and a vehicle.
