The role of Lead Production Engineer is the link between design and manufacturing and is part of the project leadership team. It involves being part of the project leadership team along with the Project Director, Lead Design Engineer, Lead Designer, and Project Scheduling Manager in a collaborative manner. This ensures that the leadership team use their collective experience, skill, and knowledge to direct the team and deliver the best possible solution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards
• Coordinating manufacturing launch for new or revised products
• Recommending and implementing improvements to production processes, methods, and controls

There are 2 main characteristics that the company are looking for. The first is a depth of skill that allows them to contribute to the creative process. The second is the disposition for collaboration across disciplines. It is important to be able to see the problem from another perspective to ensure that the best possible outcome is achieved.

Key Skills, Attributes, & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Production Engineering & Supply role
• Project management experience
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Deep knowledge of manufacturing and production processes and concepts
• Good understanding of Lean manufacturing
• Ability to talk to both customers and technical people
• High competence in the use of CAD packages (Solidworks)
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision
