Robotics Plus Limited (RPL) is a robotics and automation company specialising in powering up productivity in primary industries. Since 2013, we have developed world-leading automation, robotic and sensor technologies to address this challenge. With an exciting partnership and investment from Yamaha Motors, RPL is looking to build an even stronger team to deliver next level of functionality across several commercial systems and R&D projects.
RPL is looking for Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineers’ to join our expanding team of mechatronics, mechanical, electrical and software engineers that are creating exciting new robotic systems.
This role would suit a highly-motivated person with excellent engineering skills. You should be someone who continuously strives to adopt new technologies while also being driven to produce products that customers will love. We’re looking for someone who enjoys the challenges and opportunities of using new technologies to create new inventions that transform traditional industries.
The role will report to RPL’s Chief Operating Officer and will be working with a talented development team, to create reliable solutions while working with RPL staff and customers to implement those solutions.
To do the job we’ll be looking for someone with the following skills:
- Experience with 3D mechanical modelling (e.g. SolidWorks).
- Experience with mechanical design for industrial equipment
- Able to help manage suppliers for parts ordering
- Experience producing production drawings
- Ability to assist with procedural documentation like service/maintenance instructions, assembly documentation etc.
- Great written and verbal communication skills with well-developed problem identification and resolution skills
The following skills would also be nice to have:
- Experience with electronics and system wiring
- Machinery production experience
- Experience commercialising early stage prototype equipment

The role is for a permanent position. It will be based at RPL’s offices in Newnham Innovation Park, Te Puna, on the outskirts of Tauranga. The Park is a collegial environment with innovative businesses working on everything from electric farm bikes to innovative food products to new horticulture growing systems.
