Our client is a leading tier one commercial main contractor who have secured a substantial amount of work within the local Christchurch construction market. They are currently looking for a versatile and enthusiastic Estimator. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step and focus their career towards estimating with exposure to some of the South Island's leading commercial projects

Overview:

This role requires a candidate with a solid background in commercial construction, ideally with experience working on projects upward of $40 mil.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, key responsibilities will include:

• scheduling/estimating
• cost management
• subcontractor management
• schedule of quantities and applying rates
• tender preparation and analysis
• progress claims and assessing variations
• Liaising closely with Project Managers (monthly progress claims and variation costing)
• Managing pricing of tender process

Minimum requirements:

• 8 years’ experience QS or as Estimator on commercial construction projects
• Proven ability to win projects
• Excellent computer skills, knowledge of buildsoft and Costx Software
• Having a relevant tertiary qualification and relevant training is highly desirable
• Experience and an excellent understanding of the local market is helpful
