The company
My client is a leading Digital Solutions business with a very strong list of major clients throughout NZ and into Asia. They have continued to grow from strongly over the years, whilst still maintaining strong core values of the business; family orientated, supportive team environment & forward thinking.
Due to growth, they are now looking for another SQL developer to join their highly supportive and engaged development team.
The role
This role will be responsible for creating and developing a high-performance database including flow and table design, indexing and reporting. .
You will have experience dealing with large data sets, measuring in the billions of rows, understanding the performance and governance required to manage these efficiently and effectively. You will have experience providing reporting services on this level of data, and have experience analysing data in the retail (ideally supermarket) space.
You will need great attention to detail, good time management skills and the ability to multi-task. You will have the ability to follow process accurately and in detail, the foresight to understand when process might fail, the ability to work under pressure and an enthusiastic personality to work in a supportive team environment. You will also need the ability to learn new skills and processes quickly.
Skills and experience:
- 6+ years' experience hands-on SQL development (tSQL)
- Strong experience working with data sets measuring in the billions of rows
- Strong analysis experience with retail data
- Strong experience working with near real-time data
- Strong experience with ETL, SSIS, tSQLt
- Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills
- Strong experience with SQL Server 2008-2016
- Strong experience with version control (SVN/GIT)
- Experience with database health: recovery, backups, replication
- Performance optimisation
