Detail information about job Tour Administrator. Terms and conditions vacancy

"Tour administrator"

We debated this name for a while. Some of the other options that ended up on the cutting room floor were "Client Relationship Manager" (too corporate), "Calendar guru" (catchy but a bit 2012), "Xero expert" (but the mention of accounts probably made the job sound like the pay was much higher) and "email monkey" (but another one of us already grabbed that title).

If you haven't closed your browser window by this stage and considered throwing your computer out the window (before quickly realising you're unemployed and won't be able to afford a new one), then you're possibly who we're looking for.

Who are NZ Playhouse?

What, you haven't heard of us? That's OK, I'll forget you said that.

NZ Playhouse is perhaps the country's busiest touring theatre company, performing to 150,000 kids and teenagers each year in 750 schools across two continents. We've been going 12 years now, and in all that time we still haven't worked out how to write a more professional job advertisement.

We're a touring company, but don't worry, we only need you in Christchurch, where our office is.

The office might sound more boring than life on the road with the actors, but you'd be surprised – I like to keep the mood nice and light by telling jokes quite a bit. The others always laugh. It's been hinted that it's because I pay their salaries but you be the judge of that. It's recommended you at least laugh at the jokes until your trial period is up though.

The team

Speaking of the others, NZ Playhouse office is currently a team of three (Kris, Cat and myself) plus our lovely six actors who are on the road (and a few other people in the music studio building we're in, we can save all the introductions for another day), but we need someone to come on board to help with a bit of an extra workload we have until the end of the year. So on that note...

The hours and term

We're looking THREE days per week, most probably Monday, Wednesday and Friday (but this could be negotiable).

It's a FIXED TERM until Christmas (because come January there won't be anything to do, and we hope to be back on top of the workload next year). By until Christmas, I mean, like, the week or so beforehand. You don't have to work Christmas Day.

And we're keen for you to start straight away.

Skills required

One of the most important things required for this job is an unhealthy obsession with getting details correct. In all seriousness, you'll be dealing with invoices where one extra zero would mean.... wait..... if you add a zero on, that'd be cool. And the calendar, if we put the wrong address on an event, we could leave hundreds of kids stranded without a show. So you need to be good with details

If it annoyed you that there wasn't a full stop at the end of the last paragraph, then this is good; you could be right for the job.

Having experience in the theatre world will help.

Sound like you? We're looking to hire pretty quickly so get your CV in pronto, or just answer the questions below for a start!

TL;DR

Here's a quick checklist of what we'll want to know
– do you have right to work in NZ?
– administration experience? (very important)
– customer service experience? (very important)
– financial literacy and/or good maths grades? (very important)
– theatre experience? (quite important)
– can you use a computer? (Maybe we'll be able to tell from your CV...)
– are you all good to work 3 days a week, from now until Christmas?

Don't hesitate to give me a call with any questions. 021 223 6693.

We'll shortlist on 14/15/16 July so get your CV in by Friday 13 July (or Thursday 12 July if you're superstitious).

Cheers, hear from you soon!
