  • Join a leading provider of airline pilot training
  • Operating in a purpose-built training centre
  • Based at Hamilton Airport, NZ

L3 CTS Airline Academy is at the global forefront of airline pilot training, supplying the next generation of Captains and Co-Pilots to our many airline partners. We deliver training in five purpose-built centers across the world in modern simulators and aircraft. The flight training operation at Hamilton conducts approximately 2000 flights per month utilising 42 Cessna 172, DA 20 and DA 42 aircraft.

About the role

We are seeking a full-time Airworthiness Controller to join our operation at Hamilton Airport. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with experience in the aviation maintenance industry, either in an airline, the military or general aviation and who is ready to take the next step in their career.

In conjunction with our on-site aircraft maintenance provider, the Airworthiness Controller is responsible for ensuring the continued airworthiness of L3 aircraft. You will act as the point of contact between the maintenance provider and L3 Operations to ensure that we have the optimum availability of aircraft to meet our training delivery requirements. You will be responsible for the co-ordination of aircraft maintenance that meets NZ CAA and manufacturer requirements, whilst monitoring and recording aircraft hours in order to plan maintenance schedules.

Every day will be different, providing you with a challenging and dynamic role. You will be required to follow regulations but also have an analytical approach to identify any maintenance concerns, cost trends, and improvement opportunities.  Your day will involve plenty of interaction with others and will require proactive and timely communication.  You will need to develop effective relationships with key stakeholders such as the Head of Training, Operations team, Safety and Compliance, NZ CAA and the maintenance provider.

This is a permanent role, full of variety within a professional flight training environment. Working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, this is a great opportunity to progress your career in the aviation industry, whist maintaining a great work/life balance.

Skills and experience

To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the following requirements:

Essential:

  • Experience in the coordination of staff and resources in logistical planning and implementation within the aviation maintenance industry.
  • Skilled in the use of word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Managerial experience in respect of people management and quality systems.
  • Hold the necessary knowledge, skills, experience and personal attributes to satisfy the post-holder requirements for relevant regulatory bodies as necessary.
  • The unrestricted right to live and work in New Zealand

Preferred:

  • Experience in managing aircraft maintenance systems and procedures, either in an airline, the military, or a General Aviation organisation.
  • Completed a Maintenance Controller’s Course facilitated by the NZ CAA
  • Hold at least a National Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering (Maintenance Control)

NOTE: The Airworthiness Controller will be required to obtain and maintain a Senior Person approval as granted by the NZ Civil Aviation Authority (NZ CAA), including a Fit and Proper Person assessment.
