A key established high profile transport and logistics company that operate across New Zealand are looking to recruit an Operations Manager to join their successful parcels team.  As the Manager of this group of committed class 1, 2 and 4 Drivers, you will bring your integrity and knowledge to the role ensuring the company continues to provide an excellent service to its clients.  This is a great opportunity to run your own business unit and to assist in growing the Parcels business in a planned and controlled manner whilst attaining projected profit levels with the guidance and support of a great organization behind you. 

The ideal candidate:-
  • Experience within the transport sector, ideally a courier background
  • Experience of managing a small team
  • Commercial ability, including financial ability and reporting
  • Ability to think on your feet and provide quick solutions
Duties:-
  • Manage the daily activities, tasks and responsibilities of the Operations, ensuring the optimum performance of all staff in order to achieve operational excellence and customer service (internal & external)
  • Complete operational overview (all runs) and ensure all members of the operations team are aware of daily operational requirements
  • Monitor and maintain overview to ensure driver’s time and timesheet accuracy
  • Overview daily/weekly management and development of weekly rosters
  • Monitor and ensure all operational processes are documented and adhered to by direct reports
  • Management of owner driver and sub-contractors to ensure both service and costs are in line with customer and company expectations.
  • Ensure customer service standards and procedures meet both customer and company expectations
  • Maintain a weekly KPI for all deliveries and departure times, applying root cause corrective actions where required. 
  • Ensure timely follow up with all client requests to ensure a high level of service is afforded at all times.
  • Recruit and train employees for in line with company policy and procedures.
  • Manage annual leave requests and organise cover for planned absences, sickness, unauthorised absences and peak flow times.
  • Provide regular performance feedback and undertake annual performance reviews
  • Complete, document, and report any disciplinary issues in a timely manner in line with company policy and in consultation with Human Resources Manager as required.
  • Establish and maintain regular customer meetings presenting performance results and work through other day to day requirements, meeting minutes are to be maintained and published.
  • All fleet is serviced and maintained in accordance with company servicing policies and requirements 
  • Remain compliant with all legislative requirements, including but not limited to weights, lengths and ‘H’ permit requirements
