Maitland City Council is responsible for providing a wide range of services to Maitland and its growing population. Council is seeking a motivated professional to complement its dynamic and diverse workforce.

About the role:

As a Gardener/Greenkeeper, you will work with other team members to provide gardening services and maintain all Council ovals, parks and gardens to a high standard.

You will operate plant and equipment to carry out your tasks, such as rotary mowers, cylinder mowers, whipper snippers, hedge trimmers etc., whilst following Council’s operating procedures and standards.

This will involve undertaking duties including, but not limited to:

  • Turf maintenance of parks and public reserves
  • Specialised sports turf surfaces maintenance
  • Gardening and horticultural maintenance, design, set out and installation
  • Install and repair underground drainage, sprinklers and reticulation in sports fields, gardens beds and open spaces

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have a Certificate III in Horticulture (or equivalent), have contemporary industry knowledge and demonstrated experience in turf maintenance, sports turf surfaces, gardening and installation and maintenance of water reticulation systems. You will have experience operating a variety of horticultural plant and equipment, a current MR driver’s licence as well as the ability to work productively in a team and be able to think on your feet.

Benefits:

This is a permanent full time role with a salary range of $52,351 up to $58,110 per year based on demonstrated competencies + 9.5% p.a. super. Work hours are currently 6:45am to 3:45pm, including a 30 minute overtime agreement per day (reviewed annually) which offers an additional allowance of $99.35 up to $110.27 per week.
