The Doherty Institute, University of Melbourne, seeks a research assistant to work with Professor Stephen Kent and Dr Amy Chung. We are interested in understanding the role of antibodies in control of infectious diseases, including HIV, Influenza, Malaria and Mycobacterium Tuberculosis and how they can be utilized in vaccination and antibody therapeutics.

We seek an enthusiastic individual with a strong interest in immunology and infectious diseases.  The research assistant, with the support and guidance from senior academic staff, will apply a number of different experimental procedures to characterize and define the role of these antibodies using specialized techniques. Furthermore, the technician will be asked to consult scientific literature, maintain well-documented lab records and contribute to the preparation of research manuscripts.

Exceptional organizational skills, the ability to work within a team atmosphere, and being a self-starter are essential for success in this position.
