Monash Health is Victoria’s largest public health service servicing one quarter of Melbourne’s population across the entire

life-span.
The Building Engineering Services team manages the critical infrastructure on-site that feeds into all of the day to day operations of the hospital and services sites.

They are currently looking to gain a new Building Services Project Manager to ensure the facilities, infrastructure and assets are upgraded and delivered.

Description

Based from Monash Health’s main site in Clayton, the role as Building Services Project Manager will work within a team of 4 reporting into the senior manager.

Your core duties will include:

  • Effectively manage building, refurbishment, infrastructure and asset replacement projects.
  • Effectively manage project consultants and contractors to achieve key elements (time, cost & quality) of project management.
  • Work with relevant departments and stakeholders to identify issues in establishing and implementing projects and to assist in planning and implementation of systems and processes associated with the works.
  • Write technical specifications, scopes, tendering and procure services within Monash Health policies and guidelines.
  • Manage construction, installation, maintenance & service contracts effectively; ensuring conformance with specifications, KPI’s & OHS legislation.
  • Become actively involved and support the site engineering managers to deliver facilities management services across Monash Health facilities.
  • Make environmental sustainability & energy management a key consideration in all capital & infrastructure projects and facilities management services.
  • Identify key internal and external stakeholders, and work with them to develop and implement cohesive communication plans when projects are delivered.
  • Maintain a regular cycle of risk identification, assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Provide advice regarding other key areas of planning, generate ideas and provide innovative solutions to enhance delivery of projects.
  • As a member of the Engineering management team the position will actively lead and promote the Vision, Mission and values of Monash Health, be customer focused and participate in the development and review of the Engineering Services strategic plan.
  • Participate in the Monash Health Building Services department after hours on call roster.
  • Other duties as directed that is consistent with the employee’s skills & classification.
  • Ensure that there is financial responsibility and accountability across the functions under the position’s control and develop and implement financial strategies that will ensure budgetary targets and key performance indicators are met.
  • Initiate and implement actions to improve the financial effectiveness of all functions, under the positions control.
  • Participate and co-operate in consultative processes to improve health and safety.
  • Observe safe working practices and as far as you are able, protect your own and others health and safety.
  • Monitor the operations and continuous improvement of the Monash Health Occupational Health and Safety Management System within area of responsibility and provide a safe and positive workplace
  • Complete all necessary personal training and professional development requirements.

Profile

To be considered for the role, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in project/ contract management.
  • Alternatively an appropriate trade qualification with project management experience, preferably in a heath engineering environment.
  • A high degree of competency in the application of relevant Australian Standards, Building Codes, Essential Services Regulations and other statutory, regulatory and OH&S legislation.
  • Eligible to be a member of IHEA or similar professional body.
  • Strong technical project/ contract management knowledge, experience and skills.
  • Ability to understand & interpret technical specifications and CAD plans.
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills and strong solution orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex range of tasks across a number of projects at the one time.
  • Technical report writing skills including a demonstrated ability to prepare executive briefings.
  • Understand concepts in Environmental sustainability and energy management.
  • Appropriate computer skills.
