About the role:
We are seeking a highly motivated lawyer to deliver and promote civil law services to individuals and communities in the Goulburn region.
You will act as an advocate by providing advice and conducting case work in civil law matters including mental health, social security, debt, infringements and discrimination. You will appear as a lawyer in the Mental Health Tribunal and Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) to effectively represent and advocate for clients with civil and human rights issues. In working collaboratively with local partners and agencies, you will contribute to community engagement initiatives, community legal education projects and law reform.
This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to broaden their experience in civil law and contribute to this expanding practice area in the Goulburn region. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and supportive team environment supported by the broader Civil Justice program area.
About you:
You will be a lawyer with an interest in the civil law jurisdiction. You will have knowledge and/or practical experience in the law and court procedures with the capacity to work as an advocate and caseworker in civil law matters. You will have the ability to provide advice on legal and policy issues within limited time constraints.
Critical to your success in this role will be your ability to communicate effectively with clients and capacity to engage with key partner agencies and staff to manage referrals and promote the service across the sector.
