The Opportunity
A well-established, multi-disciplinary law firm in Cairns, offering advice and guidance across a wide range of legal areas, has a unique opportunity for an experienced Family Lawyer to join their team. This is largely an autonmous role within a mature, professional and friendly work environment focused on client satisfaction.
You could be currently working in Cairns and seeking a better work environment or more of an autonomous role within a smaller firm. Or you might live in another city and drawn to the tropical lifestyle that Cairns could offer!
Within your Family Law portfolio, you will give advice to those contemplating separation though to Court proceedings and all of the stages in between, including: Property settlements, Children’s matters, De facto law, Divorce, Spousal maintenance, Child support, Binding Financial Agreements, Same sex relationships, Domestic violence, Children's Court, Federal Circuit Court of Australia applications, Family Court of Australia applications, and Consent Orders. Legal Aid work is also a part of the client porfolio.
About You
Ideally, you are currently practicing Family Law, running your own files and client base, seeking an autonomous role where you are confident in your abilities across all aspects of Family Law practice. You are thorough, practical and a straightforward person. You also have your clients best interests at heart. it would be advantageous to have experience across another area of law, as there is opportunity to practice this in addition to the Family Law portfolio.
You have a easy going nature about you and happy to work hard and be financially rewarded for your efforts by exceeding your targets. Having experience in other areas of law would be a value add, however, not essential.
You will be supervised by the Principal Solicitor that specialises in Family Law and also have the luxury of administration staff. You will however, be responsible for your own case load from start to finish including:initial meetings right through to final hearings and court order. It is essential that you have a strong client service and satisfaction focus, along with a mature, professional and friendly demeanor.

This is a rare opportunity for a Lawyer with at least 2 years PAE seeking a hands on role, where you can truely take ownership of your caseload and build a strong client base in this busy area of law. Base salary + super and generous bonus structure negotiable, dependant on your experience and what you can bring to the role.
