The Role
We are a busy and dynamic firm and currently seeking a full-time junior criminal lawyer, ideally with experience in criminal law. 

Working closely with a Partner and Senior Associate, this is an excellent opportunity for a junior criminal lawyer.  You would be acting for a range of defendants and have independent carriage of a large number of criminal matters. 

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Attending and representing clients in court;
  • Preparing representations and negotiating with DPP and the Australian Federal Police;
  • Attending client conferences and obtaining instructions;
  • Preparing correspondence including written advice and briefs to counsel; and
  • Working with some of Australia's best criminal barristers.


Your Experience
Ideally, you will have at least 1 year post admission experience in criminal law and experience defending clients in criminal Court proceedings. In addition, having experience in advocacy in a range of cases, from bail applications, defendant hearings and sentences.

Your strengths will include outstanding written and analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, critical and creative thinking and excellent interpersonal communication skills to foster client relationships.  A sense of humour is a must.  You also must be able to work well under pressure and be robust enough to take straight talking.
