Due to recent growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a lawyer who has been recently admitted to join the firm in Melbourne.

McDonald Murholme represents a wide spectrum of employees from CEOs to clerical staff in accordance to Australian law, which provides comprehensive rights to employees against wrongful dismissal and workplace bullying. McDonald Murholme gives clients access to these laws. Its client base is growing strongly.

The firm provides sound legal advice and a strategy to make the laws work for employees when confronted with a better resourced and more powerful employer.

In this role you will have direct contact with clients, opponent solicitors, counsel and have the opportunity to attend conciliations and court hearings. You will use your legal technical knowledge to produce quality work for our clients as well as your expertise and empathy for our clients' sensitive circumstances.

Details

The successful applicant will be measured against any combination of the following considerations:

  • Completed a law degree;
  • Recently admitted into practice or will be admitted into practice in 6-12 months;
  • Applications from persons with less than three years' experience are welcome. Applications from candidates with in-house experience or employer firms are welcome;
  • Passion/interest to represent employee clients;
  • Experience with the Fair Work Australia, County Court and Federal Court (preferred but not essential);
  • Experience with conciliation conferences (preferred but not essential);
  • Ability to display time management skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; and
  • Cool under pressure.
