Corporate Counsel

Renewable Energy - projects / construction

3-6yrs PQE 

This is  a great opportunity for a mid level lawyer with strong commercial acumen and good construction or project finance experience to join a successful renewable energy business that has multiple existing and new projects.  

If you are looking to move from private practice into a really commercially focused legal counsel role where you will work closely with technical, commercial and finance colleagues to bring major projects together under the direction of an experienced General Counsel then this is the role for you.

Job Description and Requirements:

• Provide counsel to the local commercial team with respect to the development, financing, construction and operation of utility-scale renewable energy projects

• Assist with the management of regulatory and permitting affairs, particularly during project development stages

• Research, review, interpret, draft and negotiate project contracts such as power purchase agreements, EPC agreements and O&M agreements

• Manage and supervise outside counsel; manage and be responsible for administrating legal budgets; review and approve outside counsel invoices

• Provide counsel on legal issues identified by construction management in connection with projects under construction

• Provide counsel on legal issues identified by O&M and asset management in connection with projects under operation

• Provide support with the corporate housekeeping activities of the clients Australian entities

• Assist with potential and actual disputes

• Law degree from a leading law school

• Licensed to practice law in Australia
• 3-6 years of professional legal work experience
