The Role

 The purpose of this role is to provide psychological claims management teams with support to drive performance outcomes, and to enable team members to develop the skills to deliver best practice case management.

Reporting to the Group Manager, this role will be responsible for improving Return to Work outcomes for detached and front end Workers Compensation claims- Psychological Injuries. This includes coaching and supporting existing Case Managers to achieve these outcomes, review and provide feedback about current claim management practices and ensure emerging trends are identified and managed.

This person will also lead the identification of opportunities for improvement and innovation to achieve organisational objectives. The individual will work with the Strategy Team to implement projects within IFNSW (previously TMF) to achieve improvements in our Return to Work outcomes.

Further responsibility includes the provision of specialist advice and coaching to Team Leaders and claims staff within the segment and external stakeholders as required.

The successful person will identify high risk claims and decide on appropriate preventative strategies, work collaboratively with claims teams to develop and implement these strategies and participate in Case Conferencing and Face to Face engagements.

This role will also liaise with the Actuarial Services team and other business units to support the development and maintenance of reporting solutions as well as initiate, develop and deliver specific learning initiatives to the claims teams to improve their RTW skills.

 Your responsibilities will include but not limited to

  • Document, maintain and improve the segment strategy to ensure it maximises achievement of segment objectives and targets
  • Analysis of the psychological claims portfolio to assist teams understand the claims making up the portfolio and identifying cohorts that would benefit from the application of targeted strategies
  • Leading the development of strategies to address targeted segment cohort. Maintaining, reviewing and updating the segment strategy in keeping with IfNSW’s Operational Plan
  • Supporting and coaching claims staff, Team Leaders and Managers, and ensuring the delivery of claims management performance improvement initiatives.
  • Provision of segment performance monitoring and reporting for segment leaders and managers
  • Develop and deliver Provider training and resources as required to support the objectives of the segment
  • Support the business in achieving required standards (e.g. Critical Service Standards, icare IfNSW requirements, and legislative requirements)

Skills and Experience

 Excellent demonstration of the ability to apply the NSW Workers compensation legislation and the associated guidelines and regulations

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Sound understanding of the  icare IfNSW contract requirements and performance measures
  • Competently utilises software and databases, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated experience in claims and/or injury management
  • Experience in working with and developing Agencies and Panel Providers
  • Experience in providing training and creating resources and initiatives
  • Project experience is desirable
  • Psych background is essential.
