A not-for-profit membership organisation, our client provides indemnity insurance and other benefits to over a quarter of Australia's doctors as well as dentists and other allied healthcare practitioners. It is a national organisation with offices in several State capitals.
Reporting to the Head of Professional Services, the role is responsible for providing a high level of quality Indemnity and Liability management services to their members by effectively resolving all litigated and formal claims. The role works closely alongside the Professional Support Services department in providing an overall ‘Centre of Excellence’.
Key purpose and responsibilities of this role include:
- General Operations - establishing, monitoring and controlling management systems, standards, benchmarks and processes to provide a high quality, effective, economic and prompt service to Members and other key stakeholders.
- Delivery of claims management in relation to all litigation matters as well as the end-to-end process of information gathering from new Members to ensure appropriate assessment and resolution.
- Manage all matters deemed to be a liability by providing a superior level of clinico-legal expertise that assures sustainable financial position.
- Facilitate and manage the internal transfer of indemnity and liability litigation matters and their retention, allocation and management including resolution within the Department, or transfer where appropriate to other departments within the organisation.
- Finance – managing the annual operational budget including external legal costs as well as contributing to the constraint of Member subscription costs via effective policy and procedures.
- Delivering quality service to Members, colleagues and peers to a high standard, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Team leadership, management and ongoing mentoring and development.
- Workplace health, safety and general industry Compliance.
Essential requirements:
- Minimum 3+ years in a management role along with proven experience managing professional services staff.
- Experience in Personal Injury Insurance in a clinico-legal environment, ideally within the healthcare sector having worked closely with multi-disciplinary, professional teams.
- Demonstrated, well-developed communication skills and a collaborative approach to the delivery of outcomes.
- Able to maintain a high level of focus and manage pressure in an environment of continuous improvement and change.
- Passion for improving the end user experience.
- Highly proactive and self-motivated.
- Technical expertise and comfortable with most IT systems.
- Strong analytical and project management skills
- Proven expertise in planning and delivering on multiple projects concurrently.
