We are currently recruiting an Underwriting Administrator to join one of Australia's largest insurers, currently going through a period of growth. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is considering a long term career as an underwriter in the insurance industry.
The role is very well suited to, and ideal for individuals who have come from any of the following backgrounds:
- Customer Service Insurance, who has a strong belief in insurance, enjoys the technical elements of the role but wants to move away from a sales/phone based, target driven environment;
- A New Business/ Policy Maintenance Administrator who has been doing the processing, had some contact with Underwriters and Advisers, and is intrigued by the underwriting process;
- A Case Manager who has been liaising with advisers during the underwriting and new policy execution process.
The fundamental requirements in being successful in the role are good people skills, a passion for insurance and an eye for detail.
This is a rare opportunity to secure a role in underwriting. You will be working closely with clients and underwriters in obtaining all required information needed to execute a new insurance policy. You will learn how decisions are made, how loading's and exclusions are applied, and how the premium is set.
The manager of the area promotes self-development and she is a huge advocate for promoting staff based on performance, rather than tenure. Those individuals that have a passion for underwriting have very quickly been given authorities and moved up the ranks.
