The opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Agency Schemes & Facilities Manager to join the Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (MSI) team in Sydney.  This business-critical role will see you assist with the procurement, establishment and performance monitoring of schemes and facilities, including outsourced functions within the business.

 You will develop and maintain the relationships with agency partners, overseeing the profitability of the portfolio and adherence to compliance and risk management standards.  You will have the opportunity to collaborate with all levels of internal stakeholders such as Finance, IT and Marketing to ensure efficient and effective schemes management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan and implement a strategy to facilitate the attraction and retention of high quality scheme business
  • Plan and implement strategies to manage key business risks including loss of account, reputation risk and insurance risk
  • Manage exposure on unprofitable scheme business
  • Assess scheme exposure, performance and pricing in accordance with defined limits of authority or class authority, organisational policy and underwriting standards
  • Monitor and review scheme and facility underwriting standards, procedures and compliance with contractual obligations
  • Facilitate and capitalise on change and innovations, such as new technologies
  • Conduct quality reviews for all schemes and select outsourcing arrangements to identify and manage risks and issues
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with all customers,  intermediaries and internal stakeholders.
  • Achieve profitability and growth (through new business and scheme retention) in accordance with plan/budget
  • Identify new business opportunities and self-insurance prospects, schemes, as well as underwriting requirements to meet business needs
  • Leverage new product offerings out of existing arrangements wherever possible
  • Monitor and maintain existing portfolios to ensure retention of all profitable relationships
  • Establish appropriate measurement techniques and reporting systems and accurately indicate trends by scheme / facility and class of business
  • Identify adverse trends and work closely with the Underwriting and Marketing teams to establish and implement corrective action where necessary

  • Understanding of relevant Prudential Standards and licencing obligations

  • Underwriting and or claims experience across a range of classes
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, specialist qualifications or equivalent
  • Strong/established customer/broker relationships
