About Us

It’s an exciting time for Discovery parks. Since our inception in 2004 we have experienced extensive growth. We currently own and operate over 65 Holiday and Workstay Parks throughout Australia and employ over 1100 people within these parks. As part of our ongoing growth plans, Discovery Parks has also recently acquired Australia’s largest network of parks – Top Parks.

The Top Parks transaction structure (being a 100% purchase of the brand) has ultimately accelerated Discovery Parks strategic goals to become the clear market leader in the industry. The acquisition of Top Parks has provided sufficient scale to establish the Licensed Parks Business. In addition to the acquisition of Top Parks, we have launched the G’Day Rewards loyalty program. The Loyalty business has set an ambitious growth plan.

Discovery’s strategy was developed with a significant investment in customer centric operations and technology. Discovery is looking to leverage the work across a larger footprint of parks through the introduction of Licensed parks.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will lead the Discovery Parks portfolio of parks comprising relevant holiday, tourist, residential living and Workstay parks throughout Australia. The National Operations Manager (NOM) will lead the Operations Team, including Park Managers to deliver on our 2020 strategic Plan.

With continued change and strong growth, the NOM will be required to bring strong leadership and commercial operational management, systems thinking and experience and proven ability to drive cultural change. As the NOM you will possess a strong financial acumen, customer service mindset and the ability to lead our large Operations team to deliver on budgeted targets.

You must be able to quickly understand the key operational drivers required to achieve our strategic goals. Your ability to build high performing teams, through recruiting and developing great people, conducting succession planning and creating positive work environments where our people can thrive is paramount to your success in this role. As the NOM you will draw upon your extensive Commercial and Financial knowledge as you interpret financial statements and reports and undertake business analysis to provide recommendations to the business as well as ensuring the deployment of capital is in line with the company growth strategy and performance targets.

Working together with your team you will strive to ensure the successful and profitable operation of the portfolio to maximise its profitability by being proactive and focussing on revenue and occupancy performance ensuring the achievement of budgets and forecasts.

Another key aspect of the role is to manage the strategic and ongoing growth (profit and business) of the organisation as well as monitoring and reporting on the performance of the portfolio to the COO.

Your Experience

A Tertiary Qualification finance, accounting and/or business is highly desirable. You will have a firm understanding of financial management as well as a strong business acumen with highly proficient written and verbal communication skills which will allow you to communicate effectively at a senior management level to facilitate discussion and obtain approval.

You will possess a high level of energy, self-motivation, decisiveness, initiative, flexibility and attention to detail to be successful in meeting the business demands at Discovery Parks. Your naturally upbeat and open style will fit our cultural values. You will have a highly organised mindset, with the ability to assess the urgency of work allocated to you by various stakeholders and lead a large operations team to be successful.
