Brand New Care Facility – Juniper Hayloft, Martin

We are currently looking for experienced Cook/ Chef to join our team at our brand new Juniper Hayloft facility located in the City of Gosnells. Hayloft will be home to 100 residents, seeking accommodation and care adapted to their individual needs, and has included appropriate accommodation for residents living with Dementia in the design of both the building and surrounding gardens. 

The purpose of this role is to prepare and cook high quality, nutritious meals to meet our residents’ special dietary requirements. You will be responsible for supervising a team of catering staff and ensuring all policies and procedures are being adhered to. You will also make sure that the quality of meals is maintained at a high standard.

We are looking for a part time Cook / Chef be part of our new team, working 29.5 a fortnight, current requirements (subject to change) are Thursday, Friday one week and Saturday, Sunday the following week.

 Key Responsibilities of this role:

  • Preparing and cooking high quality, nourishing meals for our residents
  • Monitoring all practices within the catering centre to ensure safe food handling and infection control procedures are being adhered to
  • Ensure all areas of the kitchen are cleaned to the highest standards
  • Stock control management, replenishing and ordering stock as required
  • Compliancy with Juniper’s Occupational, Safety and Health requirements

The Skills, Knowledge and Experience required:

  • Trade certification or experience in a commercial cooking environment and/or aged care catering is required
  • Basic knowledge of dietary nutrition for the aged is preferred
  • Ability to manage bulk ordering, purchasing, and stock control of food
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Empathy for elderly residents
