  The Position

  We are currently seeking experienced and multi-skilled Catering Assistants to support the Clinical Food Services team at Lady Cilento Children's Hospital. This position requires a hands on approach to the food service delivery in the kitchen, wards, and various patient areas including snack and beverage stations. You will also be required to maintain food stock levels and clean kitchen areas on a daily basis, whilst ensuring company food safety standards and safety procedures are adhered to.  You will be required to assist in the kitchen with dishwashing, cleaning, food preparation, and other duties as required. A sound knowledge of allergens, therapeutic diets and infection control procedures is highly desirable.

  Key Duties

  • Assist with preparing and presenting food
  • Deliver professional customer service
  • Maintain clean & tidy Pantry, Burlodge Trolley, Nutrition Bays & Family Room areas
  • Collect any dishes and replenish to par levels
  • Replenish supplies in Ward Pantries and Nutrition Bays as per Ancillary List Par levels.
  • Receive and rotate stock
  • Fill out all the required paperwork i.e. temperature monitoring forms, cleaning rosters
  • Return any equipment to main kitchen from the Special Diets deliveries.
  • Thorough cleaning of all commercial equipment, dishes and floors
  • Competent in the use of commercial dishwashers.
  • Removal of all food waste from the kitchen.

  The Person

  • Display a positive attitude to daily challenges, willingness and flexibility to meet the needs of changing priorities and a resilient nature
  • Previous experience within a kitchen hand role
  • An eye for detail with excellent customer service standards
  • A sound knowledge in compliance driven catering techniques
  • Personable, a team player who has exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Ability to work shift work
