A bit about House of Pocket 

House of Pocket were one of the first on the small bar scene in Sydney when we opened Pocket Bar Darlinghurst in 2009. Since then, we have opened 4 more venues throughout NSW. A bit about your dream role

The Venue Manager is responsible for all aspects of the management of the venue. This includes; day-to-day admin, staffing, stock controls, training and coaching of other staff including the Venue Supervisor.

You will be provided ongoing support in your role from the Operations Team who expect open and honest communication back from you. We also expect you to lead your team by example, by providing a fun and supportive workplace. 

What you will be doing day to day

There is a whole range of duties, but here are some of the key categories and duties involved. 

  • Service: Lead by example, always working to ensure guests expectations are met and dealing with lighting and music for a valuable vibe experience. Overseeing the floor and bar staff. 
  • Staff Development & On-Shift Coordination: Coordinate pre-shift briefing and delegate duties to the team. Oversee training & development. Communicate any out of stock items & specials to staff 
  • Business Operations: Ensuring Invoices are managed, Cash Control and sorting out credit notes from suppliers. Overseeing stock control and purchasing. 
  • Communications: Reporting on trade takings file nightly, utilising communication books to communicate to cleaners, kitchen staff & management. Responding to internal emails. 
  • Payroll & Employment: recruitment, training and exit of staff, approving pay and overseeing all rosters for the team. 
  • Compliance: Ensuring venue complies with venue Plan of Management, manage security staff, guide police or other DA officers during walkthroughs. 

What skills will you bring to the role

You love running a business and all aspects of the people leadership, communication with staff and customers, managing finances, stock control and overall Service of the Venue.

1. Fast pace - Quick decisions are sometimes necessary. We run at a pretty fast pace so you need to have a sense of urgency for getting stuff done. Lots of variety in the role so you love to mutli task and stay focused on the overarching goals. 

2. Results focused - you love generating ideas, can be a creative problem solver. 

3. Relationship - building relationships with customer and staff is a no-brainer for you. 

4. Directive leadership to assure business results are achieved. You love to be accountability for results and celebrate your teams wins.
