SECOND HOME - Eltham

Second Home is a designer cafe housed in an iconic Alistair Knox built warehouse and was the Timeout Melbourne 2016 best café winner. Serving breakfast and lunch 8am-4pm daily, our food vision is for a seasonal, vibrant and modern menu, catering for all – from the health conscious to the indulgent foodie.
At Second Home we are proud of the friendly and engaged culture we have created so we are looking for a Head Chef (or experienced Sous chef looking for the next step in their career), to help us develop a high-performing and happy team of kitchen staff in delivering beautiful food and an exceptional guest experience.

Your responsibilities will include ….
- Ensuring that consistency is met with every plate
- Being hands on working alongside your team of two sous, one chef de parti and one apprentice chef
- Maintaining Stock control and daily ordering
- Rostering for your kitchen team
- Controlling food & wage cost
- Menu development & weekly specials
- The ability to work closely with and report back to management
- Communicating with front of house staff to ensure service delivery is a high standard
- The ability to support and contribute to the venue

You will have ….
- 2-3 years experience within a fast paced similar environment
- Proven track record in innovative, creative cookery and a willingness to work to a company brand food brief
- The ability to thrive under pressure
- Management skills to lead and motivate the team
- Excellent presentation
- Skills and the ability to teach and develop others in the team
- Food Safety and OH&S management skills
