Royal Far West is currently seeking an experienced Paediatric Registered Nurse to fill a permanent part-time role in our team. Reporting to the Clinical Governance & Medical Specialist Clinic Manager the Registered Nurse is responsible for ensuring the efficient, smooth running of the Developmental Paediatric clinic at RFW.   

In addition to providing support to the Developmental Paediatrician(s), Paediatric Registrar and Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists, this position is responsible for undertaking paediatric nursing assessments, the management of stimulant medications, championing medication safety at RFW, supporting clients and their families,  and contributing to quality improvement.

ABOUT YOU

Essential Criteria

  • Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) within the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA)
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience working within a community health setting providing developmental paediatric, disability and/or Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services, including the use of psychopharmacology
  • Experience working in a clinic environment, undertaking comprehensive paediatric nursing assessments supporting the smooth and efficient running of a specialist medical clinic
  • Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with both professionals and parents; including the ability to communicate with families and children with complex needs.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team from a family centred, trauma informed perspective
  • Experience working with children and families with complex behavioural and mental health difficulties, and Out of Home Care (OOHC)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the National Safety and Quality Standards in Healthcare - in particular Medication Safety and Infection Prevention and Control.

Desirable Criteria

  • Highly developed clinical understanding of developmental and mental health disorders in children and adolescents
  • Experience in clinical service delivery via telephone and/or telehealth
  • Knowledge and understanding of NDIS
  • Post graduate Qualification in Paediatric Nursing, Child and Family Health or Child and Adolescent Mental Health

We provides multidisciplinary health and wellbeing services for children from rural and remote Australia with developmental, behavioural, learning and mental health difficulties. True collaboration treats the child as a whole within the context of the family and community. We use a trauma-informed, family centred and strengths-based approach with our clients. Complementing the Speech Pathology team in the provision of evidence-based assessments, treatments and strategies are Developmental Paediatricians, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Social Workers and Occupational Therapists. A Department of Education school is on site, with which we collaborate regularly.

An attractive remuneration package, including the ability to salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate. This role has been identified as a ‘Category A employee’ and requires protection against vaccine specified preventable diseases.
