Due to expansion in the team, they now have a fantastic opportunity for an experience Occupational Therapist to join the team . The Role
On behalf of our customer we are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team provide both therapeutic and interventional supports.
Reporting to the manager, the successful candidate will work with Practitioner and clients to contribute to the development, implementation, monitor and review of client plans.
This is a temporary locum contract till the end of July with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide both one on one or group work therapy
- Provide upskilling of centre staff
- Discussions with parents to advise longer term referral pathways and/or suggested allied health interventions
- Conduct home visits and visits to schools
- Refer to and liaise with other medical and allied health professionals as required
- Act as a subject matter expert in the areas of child development and occupational therapy
- Make child protection reports to the community services helpline when assessed as necessary, in consultation with the Team Leader or Manager
To be Successful
As a minimum, applicants for this position must hold a degree or diploma qualified in Occupational Therapy. As well as, eligibility for membership as an occupational therapist with the Australian health Practitioners Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
- Previous experience working with children, young people and parents, care givers where the children or young people have complex needs
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, young people and adults
- Understanding of the impact of trauma and the effect on child behaviour and development
- Ability to support children, team members, careers, schools and families to better understand the role of occupational therapy and the befits for children and young people
- Ability to assess circumstances from multiple view and understand underlying agendas
- Ability to apply evidence informed practice to optimise outcomes
- Ability to translate complex theories in an easily understood, practical way
- Strong analytical and report writing skills
- Ability to wok flexible hours as evening and weekend work will be required
Other Required Criteria:
- Open Queensland Driver's licence, without current suspension or disqualification
- Ability to start at short notice
