An exciting opportunity exists for an energetic medical receptionist/ office manager to join our vibrant specialist practice. There is a full-time and a part-time position available. Highly qualified applicants will be considered for more senior roles.

Details of the Specialist Practice

The specialist practice is in the field of haematology and oncology and will involve working with a small, friendly team in private consulting suites at Greenslopes Private Hospital.  The practice involves a mixture of patients, varying from seriously ill patients needing chemotherapy to generally well patients seen regularly on an outpatient basis.

Summary of the role

The successful applicant will undertake an interesting mix of roles (outlined below).  This mix of duties and responsibilities has the overall goal of ensuring day to day running of a high quality busy private practice, assisting with our clinical trials program and being a positive face for our interactions with other doctors, patients and their families.

Skills required

Good telephone and interpersonal skills, professional appearance and manner and dedication to working as a team are essential.

Knowledge of medical software will be highly regarded but not essential for applicants who excel in other aspects and who can demonstrate the potential to learn quickly. 

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • assisting with front desk reception support
  • supporting our specialist practice nurse in a range of activities
  • welcome patients as they arrive and ensuring results and correspondence are up to date
  • preparing patient electronic charts
  • involvement in data management and coordination of clinical trials of new cancer therapies
  • taking responsibility for general office duties ensuring the office is well run and organised
  • undertaking various secretarial tasks such as dealing with ingoing and outgoing correspondence
  • management of patient bookings and liaison with patients and the hospital
  • assistance with invoicing and receipting for patient consultations and procedures
