The NorthWestern Mental Health Graduate Mental Health Nurse Program (GMHNP) aims to provide you with an opportunity to consolidate and build upon your mental health clinical knowledge, skills and confidence. The program:

  • Provides a safe supportive transition into mental health clinical settings
  • Delivers opportunities for consolidation of theory and refinement of clinical skills
  • Consists of clinical and theoretical components for beginning nurse practitioners
  • Offers opportunity to engage in reflective practice and clinical supervision
  • Practices person centred care and evidence based therapeutic interventions

Your Contribution:

  • A completed Bachelor of Nursing program or equivalent
  • Registered nurse with AHPRA by 14th January 2019
  • Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Comprehend the importance of nursing care focusing on best outcomes for patients
  • Understand assessment, clinical reasoning, problem solving, prioritisation skills  
  • Highly motivated and reliable with a strong willingness to learn
