An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Diabetes educator to join our teams in the two hospitals.
Skills and Experience
The successful applicant will:
- Professionally assist clients by education to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to manage their diabetes
- Promote independence and a level of autonomy for clients to manage their own condition and make decisions about their care and treatment
- Collaboratively liaise with a multidisciplinary team including Endocrinologists, Dieticians and nursing staff
- Work with clients that may have Insulin Pumps and Continuous Glucose Monitors
- Consult and communicate with your client's GP, physicians and other allied health professionals
- Provide ongoing professional education to all nursing staff re management of diabetes including undergraduate and graduate nurses
- Ensure all equipment is appropriately updated in alignment with current technologies and appropriately maintained
Essential criteria:
- Registered Nurse Division 1 with current AHPRA registration
- Credentialed Diabetes Nurse Educator with ADEA
- Well developed Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent Presentation skills. Must be confident in conducting in-service education
- Recent acute Private or Public Hospital experience working as a Diabetes Nurse Educator
- Highly developed interpersonal communication skills with lateral problem solving ability.
