Toowoomba Catholic Schools employs over 1,300 people in 31 schools from as far south as Goondiwindi, east as Highfields and as far west as Quilpie, in an area which covers 488,000 square kilometres.
Full time | 38 hours per week
Fixed term | 23 July 2018 to 05 July 2019
This role requires work over school holiday periods and has annual leave entitlements.
Based in Toowoomba with scheduled visits to rural and remote schools.
The role holder will provide a source of specialised advice and professional support in speech/language as part of the Teaching and Learning Directorate (TLD).
The position focuses on:
- delivering speech language pathology services to school students and their families
- maximizing educational outcomes for students who experience speech/language difficulties
- providing professional learning for school learning support teams
- identifying the speech/language needs of students, working collaboratively with school learning support teams to develop appropriate intervention responses able to be contextualised within an educational setting
- providing expert advice in inclusive speech/language services within the TLD and to schools within the Toowoomba Diocese based on contemporary research, system and school data and through professional relationships with relevant experts and associations
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology
- effective relationship building and influencing skills
- desire and willingness to provide scheduled outreach services in rural and remote school communities
- demonstrated experience working with the Microsoft suite of products
- advanced interpersonal and communication skills
- empathy with the values and ethos of the Catholic faith
Desirable:
- demonstrated experience within an educational setting
- membership with Speech Pathology Australia
- experience in working with students with speech/language needs
