About the role:
The key responsibility of this role is to provide operational management and professional leadership within the Day Surgery Unit. You will provide strategic and operational leadership, governance, and direction for the nursing services within the day surgery and monitor and evaluate clinical practice and service delivery standards. You will undertake direct patient care as required providing guidance and support to less experienced members. Ideally, this role would suit someone with excellent relationship building skills and someone who has the ability to educate, train and motivate a team.
Skills and Experience Required:
• Current Registration with AHPRA
• Previous administration experience in a position equivalent to, or more senior than, nursing unit manager in a private health facility or a public hospital
• Minimum of five (5) years post basic or post graduate nursing experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Understanding and knowledge of current and relevant legislation including best practices in healthcare
• A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer focused care
• Ability to build, maintain and develop strong relationships, promote open communication, effective negotiation and team development
• High degree of computer literacy including MS office and various data bases
• Ability to work cohesively within a team environment
