Where you will be working
 
At Murrumbidgee Local Health District we provide a range of public health services to the Riverina and Murray regions of New South Wales across a geographic area of approximately 125,631 square kilometres.  With around 241,000 residents living within our District we employ approximately 3,500 staff who work in our 31 facilities and support services.  Our facilities include a Rural Referral Hospital, Base and District Hospitals, Multi-Purpose Services and Community Health Facilities.

What you will be doing
 

The Child and Family Health Nurse will be involved in the provision of safe compassionate care to families caring for children 0-3 years of age within the Tresillian in Murrumbidgee Service. The Model of Care includes provision of individual family consultations, day stay services, an early intervention home visiting service, breastfeeding support, and facilitation of evidence based parenting programs.
 
The child and family health nurse will use a strength-based and wellness focus, building on parental confidence and skills through the provision of evidence based screening and assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care in collaboration and partnership with families and the multidisciplinary health care team to achieve safe quality care outcomes and negotiate individual care pathways and discharge pathways that meet the goals of the child and family.
 
The Child and Family Health Nurse will practice within the Tresillian in Murrumbidgee Model of Care, Practice Principles and the NSW Health Professional Practice Framework for Child and Family Health Nursing. The nurse will provide a strength-based and wellness focus, building on parental confidence and skills through the provision of information, education, resources, guidance and role modelling safe responsive care.
 
Selection Criteria
 

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA), with demonstrated evidence to meet the NMBA's Registered Nurse standards for practice and meet the NMBA approved standards, codes, guidelines and frameworks commensurate with the position.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in child and family health nursing and evidence of completion of Family Partnership training. Willingness to complete Parents Under Pressure, EnCAST and other additional training as requested by Tresillian.
  • Demonstrates continuous quality improvement with the ability to: comprehensively conduct assessments; develop a plan for nursing practice; provide safe, appropriate and responsive quality nursing practice; and evaluates outcomes to inform nursing practice.
