Paediatric Registrar 2019 Medical Year 

 

Eastern Health provides neonatal and paediatric service to the Eastern and Outer Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Our service includes 24 hour Registrar cover.

 

There are neonatal services at Box Hill (level4/5) and Angliss (level 4) hospitals within the Special Care Nurseries, with approximately 2500 births per year, per site. It also provides paediatric inpatient services in a ward setting at Box Hill, with short stay units at both Angliss and Maroondah hospitals.  There are several outpatient clinics at each site that are Consultant led and supervised.  Eastern Health also has a well-developed Eating disorder Unit providing both inpatient (paediatric ward) and outpatient services. 

 

There is a very successful and robust teaching program with weekly protected teaching time for the registrars and opportunities to take part in research, audits and clinical governance.

 

These positions are for 12 months and are full time.

 

The positions are suitable for Advanced Trainees in Paediatric Medicine (General), Basic Physician Trainees Year 3 and Senior HMO's with significant paediatric and neonatal experience. 

 

The Box Hill position will also be suitable for Senior Emergency Trainees wishing to gain their paediatric experience (not an ED based rotation). 

 

Both Box Hill and Angliss hospital rotations are eligible for advanced training accreditation (6 months each).  Neither site is currently eligible for basic training accreditation.
