Are you looking for a new and exciting opportunity to progress your nursing career in the area of paediatrics.

Hunter Baillie ward is looking to employ a small number of nurses who have a special interest in developing paediatric skills! The successful applicants require a minimum of 1 year nursing experience in the Australian Health care setting. However, no paediatric experience is required.

The successful applicants will be offered a position in a Supported Introduction to Paediatrics Program (SIPP). The program will provide lots of support & study days and development opportunities, as you embark on this new career progression. Paediatric experience is not required, although a genuine paediatric interest is!

Hunter Baillie is a 27 bed General Medical and Respiratory paediatric ward catering for children 0 to 11 years.

The Ward is inclusive of an 8 bed Medical Assessment Unit, and a 19 bed General Unit including the Long-Term Ventilation Unit of the hospital.

The Hunter Baillie team cares for patients with a wide range of conditions including various Respiratory Illnesses, common Childhood Illnesses, Feeding and Failure to Thrive, Airway support, Tracheostomy and Ventilation requirements, and caring for children with Chronic and Complex Comorbidities.

With such a widely varied caseload, Hunter Baillie can offer vast opportunities to develop your skills in Paediatric nursing. We have a have a fantastic team of nurses, including 2 Clinical Nurse Educators to provide education support and mentorship.
We also work closely with our  Multi-Disciplinary Team to ensure we have a team who are skilled and dedicated to providing optimal patient and family care.

Full time or Part time applicants will be considered.
8, 10 and/or 12 hour shift rosters

What you'll be doing
The Registered Nurse provides safe, compassionate, person-centred care to patients and families of Sydney Children's Hospital Network.
The Registered Nurse acts as a role model by demonstrating behaviour and interacting with patients, their families and employees in a way that promotes a culture and standards that reflect the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness , Respect and Empowerment.


  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Recent clinical experience as a registered nurse in a hospital setting.
  • Effective time management skills
  • Computer literacy.
  • Capacity to work a seven (7) day rotating roster including public holidays and reasonable overtime
