HNEkidsRehab service provides specialist paediatric rehabilitation care to children and young people from 0-18 years of age within the HNE district and children’s health network - northern. With 1,100 active patients across a range of services including brain injury rehabilitation, cerebral palsy movement disorders and general paediatric rehabilitation.
 
The Paediatric Brain Injury Rehabilitation Team is a busy, diverse and supportive service providing services to paediatric patients living with brain injury. You will be joining a multidisciplinary team, including another psychologist and clinical neuropsychologist, providing care to clients with an underlying physical disability or congenital condition (e.g. cerebral palsy, spina bifida) and children who have experienced an acquired event, such as injury, illness or significant disease (e.g. traumatic brain injury, stroke, concussion, spinal cord disease).
 
You will have strong skills in understanding the relationships between brain health and behaviour in children, with a high level of assessment in cognition and behaviour, such as memory, attention, learning, processing speed and abstract reasoning. In the role you will note the cognitive strengths and weaknesses of individuals to assist with learning, social, academic and vocational success. A core requirement of the position is the ability to actively contribute within a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team.
 
Newcastle is New South Wales’ second largest city in a prime location. This is a two day per week position, Monday must be included.
