Sugarman Australia is seeking experienced mental health nurses for positions on the Gold Coast and Brisbane.
The Registered Nurse has responsibility for overseeing the general health and wellbeing of the resident population in the residential rehabilitation program. In collaboration with the staff team the Registered Nurse will provide client centered, evidence-informed care that assists in the achievement of optimal health outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct holistic health care assessments including mental health assessments, assist in the formulation of treatment plans and maintain appropriate client records
- Refer to and liaise with a broad range of health service providers and assist in the coordination of all health-related appointments
- Coordinate the medical aspects service delivery and provide a liaison between internal/external health providers and the greater clinical team
- Take responsibility for all aspects of medication management including safe storage, administration, documentation, staff training, overarching governance and quality control
- Monitor the physical condition of residents as required including managing day to day presentations, triaging need in line with priority for care, managing referrals to GP, coordination of acute care (hospital admissions) and liaising with frontline services where necessary
Key Requirements
- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
- Current AHPRA Registration
- Experience in working with people who have significant alcohol and other drug and/or mental health issues
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of client centered care
- Ability to work as an effective team member and relate positively to a diverse range of people
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Current Australian-issued Driver’s License
