Your role
In common with all Australian communities, the Army operates within a formal law and order framework. As a member of the Military Police your task will be to enforce that framework.
Whether it's on an Army Base, out on exercise, or overseas on an operation, you'll help maintain military effectiveness and the reputation of the Army, through general policing, mobile support, and if necessary, detention of those breaking either Australian Defence Force or civilian laws.
You'll learn to operate on your own initiative as well as in a team environment, carrying out duties that include:
- investigating crimes and misdemeanours
- handling traffic incidents
- providing physical security, and
- maintaining law and order on base wherever the Army goes.
In operational situations the role expands to mobility and manoeuvre support, route reconnaissance and the management of detainees.
This is a policing and security role with many rewarding extra dimensions. Better still, in the Army you'll be working for a dynamic organisation that offers a great lifestyle plus opportunities and experiences you simply won't find anywhere else.
